ROTOMAN S
“S”: the difference between a paper web and a paper speedway.
On your mark, get set, go: the ROTOMAN S motivates every team to achieve top performance. Web travel speeds of more than 15 meters per second create ideal conditions for record production times of high-volume jobs with low page numbers. The ROTOMAN S is particularly successful in the disciplines of brochures, catalogs, and supplements.
High-volume printing. The ROTOMAN S offers ideal conditions for the high-volume sector. This 24- or 32-page long-grain format press with short makeready times has only two pages around the plate cylinder. The 32-page version is the only press of its kind to have double-circumference blanket cylinders.
Sleeve technology. Due to the combination of a small cylinder circumference and a large web width, the press produces with sleeve technology. The advantage: the gapless blanket cylinder and the plate cylinder with an extremely narrow gap result in a very small print-free
area of only 2.3 millimeters.
FF-2 and FF-4: former folders. Former folders from manroland are optimal for economical production of low page numbers. They enable the production of 3-page open products. In addition, the former folder can also produce 4-page or 2-page jumps.
Tailor-made networking. The PressManagement systems from manroland fully utilize the potential of the ROTOMAN S. Job data is automatically transferred to the printnet PressManager, and from there directly to the press.
Fast ink presetting. The QuickStart system provides among other things automatic pre-inking before press start-up. The desired printing quality is thus quickly achieved and start-up waste is minimized.
Well-equipped for the final spurt, all the way to the last fold.
A speed of 90,000 cylinder revolutions per hour propels the pinless former folders towards the goal. Even at this speed, however, the former folder isn’t pushing its limits. Quite the opposite. Even when operating at maximum production speed, the folders offer exactly the versatility you need to react to spontaneous production changes – for example with 2- or 4-page jumps.
Folders for every requirement. The ROTOMAN S can be equipped with a 1:3:3 or 2:5:5 pin-type folder or former folders with two or four belt deliveries (FF-2; FF-4 ). The 1:3:3 folder offers high flexibility for short runs. Quick makeready times and reduced waste rates enable the folder to produce especially efficiently. Additional angle bars and adjustable formers make for even more versatility. The pin-type folder with a 2:5:5 cylinder ratio is perfectly designed for the high-performance capability of the ROTOMAN S. The automatically adjust able and independently driven folder combines high speed and productivity with quick makeready times, less waste, and more product flexibility.
FF-2 and FF-4. The pinless former folders from manroland offer the greatest versatility at high speeds – depending on format, up to 90,000 cylinder revolutions per hour. The systems, consisting of one folder former or two standing next to each other with optional balloon formers and subsequent cut-off, permit a flexible number of pages up to a 2-page jumps.
Individual configuration. Single-web and multiple-web configurations, as well as customized output capacity, permit the press to be tailor-made for specific applications.
Run length versatility. The high maximum performance of the ROTOMAN S – up to 90,000 copies per hour – makes it ideal for long runs. Depending on the folder design, short and medium runs can also be produced efficiently.
Perfect start, perfect run, perfect finish, and never out of breath.
You can’t win a race without running perfectly. The manroland ClosedLoop control systems impressively take this rule to heart. They continuously control color register, cut-off register and ink density automatically. That prevents misprints from the very start and realizes a generally perfect printing image on a high quality level.
ClosedLoop control systems. Ink density control: With the InlineDensityControl from manroland, printing control strips are measured across the entire width within approximately five cylinder revolutions. The automatic control process is also the only system to incorporate the ink fountain roller speed for improved ink presetting. Color register control: ColorRegisterControl needs only the smallest marks to control the color register for up to eight colors. Cut-off control: CutControl C, based on a black-white-CCD camera, also uses space-saving marks that can be positioned as desired.
Stable printing process. The large-scale dimensioned film inking unit with four form rollers enables consistent inking over the entire printing width. Two oscillating form rollers prevent ghosting. The entire inking unit is equipped with two-circle temperature control system that ensures even inking and dampening. By sharing a form roller with the inking unit, the Hydromix film dampening unit with three rollers ensures that an optimal ink-water balance is achieved quickly and maintained throughout the entire run, and start-up waste is very low.
Long grain format. The right paper grain direction is ideal for processing glued products in A4 format, as well as for products generated via the quarter fold. The double parallel fold option provides the greatest product diversity.
