Graphics of America 2009
While the snow was flying in Chicago, representatives of manroland trudged south for the annual Graphics of the Americas show held at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Over 10,000 printers, print buyers, and publishers attended this years show. While attendance was down slightly from past years, there was quite a bit of activity on the floor. “We had plenty of meetings scheduled, but we even developed and presented a few proposals right there at the booth”, said Bob Horsfield, District Sales Manager, Southern Region.
The manroland booth featured sheetfed samples, PRINTVALUE programs and printcom products. The samples were very popular, especially the foiling and print-over-foil run on the R700 in the manroland Print Technology Center and the World Map run on the R900 also in the Westmont Center. Training, Telepresence and Upgrades were the key parts of the PRINTVALUE offerings. Printers were very impressed with the support capabilities provided by the Telepresence remote diagnostic service.
Kevin Crawley, printcom Sales Manager, saw strong interest in manroland comsumables. “Printers heard, for the first time, that they could save time and money with approved manroland consumables. These products allow them to focus on printing, not analyzing chemistry.” Rollers and the Mag-In perforation system were also presented.
The success of the Euroman, 32 page web press, in South America prompted larger printers from around the area to stop by and learn more about the press. “We lined up some positive interest and quotes for new presses with a few new printers at the show” explained Al Miller, Regional Sales Manager, Web Products. “Printers seemed to be preparing for the economy to take a turn for the better and they want to be ready.”
